When scanning a driver’s license, the scanner may need to transmit a relatively large amount of data from the PDF417 barcode. Depending on the scanner settings and the software being used, the data may take longer to appear on the computer screen.
To improve the data upload speed of driver’s license scans, you can use this configuration barcode to optimize the scanner's transmission settings.
Fast Speed
How to Increase Driver’s License Data Upload Speed
Step 1: Open a Text Application
Before changing the scanner settings, open a text application such as Notepad on your computer.
Place the cursor in the text field where you want the scanned data to appear.
Step 2: Scan the Configuration Barcode
Please scan the above "Fast Speed" barcode with your scanner.
The configuration will adjust the scanner's data transmission settings to help increase the upload speed.
Step 3: Test the Scanner
After scanning the configuration barcode, scan a driver’s license again and check whether the data is transmitted faster.
Because driver’s license PDF417 barcodes can contain a large amount of information, the scanner may still need a short amount of time to transmit all of the data. The actual transmission speed can also depend on the computer, USB connection, and software receiving the scanned information.
Important Notes
- The configuration barcode is intended to improve the data transmission speed, not the barcode's physical scanning speed.
- Please make sure the cursor is active in the target software before scanning.
- If possible, test the scanner in Notepad first. This helps determine whether the issue is related to the scanner or the software receiving the data.
- If the scanner works normally in Notepad but appears slow in your POS or other application, the software may be processing the scanned data sequentially.
Need Help?
If the scanner is still slow after applying the configuration, please provide the scanner model number and describe which software you are using. We can help check the appropriate configuration for your application.
